kwack ("we", "our", "us") operates kwack.io, a study platform for medical students. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and university/institution. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use kwack, including study attempts, scores, flashcard progress, and spaced repetition data. This is used to track your learning progress and provide personalised study recommendations.

Third-Party Integrations

If you connect your Notion workspace, we receive an access token that allows us to read pages and databases you explicitly select for import. We do not access your entire Notion workspace — only the content you choose to import. You can disconnect Notion at any time from your Settings page, which immediately revokes our access.

AI-Generated Content

When you use our AI features (e.g. generating flashcards or MCQs from Notion content), the selected content is sent to OpenAI for processing. We do not use your content to train AI models. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to the processing of this content.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the kwack platform
• Track your study progress and spaced repetition schedules
• Generate flashcards and MCQs from your imported content
• Send you study reminders (if enabled)
• Improve our service and fix bugs

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use HTTPS for all data transmission and store data in secured databases. Access tokens for third-party services (such as Notion) are stored encrypted and are only used to perform actions you have requested.

We use the following third-party services:

• Google OAuth — for sign-in authentication
• Notion API — to import your study notes (only when you connect and select content)
• OpenAI API — to generate flashcards and MCQs from your content
• Sentry — for error tracking and performance monitoring (no personal data is sent)

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Disconnect third-party integrations at any time
• Reset your study progress from the Settings page
• Export your data upon request

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

kwack is designed for medical students and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on our website. Your continued use of kwack after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
